What is a Geriatric Pet | Our Program | MLS Laser Therapy (Cold Laser)
Lovan Care Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to the health of your older pets. Extending a little extra attention and TLC to the care of your senior pets will help them live longer, happier, healthier lives. Early detection of changes in your pet’s health is why we recommend veterinary visits every 6 months. At that time they will receive a complete physical examination and laboratory tests to check for early changes in organ function.
What is a Geriatric Pet?

A geriatric pet is in the oldest stage or last 10% of the pet’s life. Common Geriatric Syndromes Include:
- Slow mobility
- Lower levels of activity
- Decline in vision and hearing
- Decline in cognitive function (doggy dementia)
- Increased signs of arthritis
- Muscle loss and weakness
Adjustments in your pet’s diet, exercise, and living environment may need to be made to keep them safe and comfortable in their later years. The more we learn about the aging process in pets, the more advancement in diet, supplements, medication, and non-invasive treatments become available.

Testimonials
“Dr. B and her team took care my best friend Mick for years until it was his turn to cross the bridge. Now they help me take care of our new family pal Browni. They always make us feel welcome and part of their family. I never feel rushed and they are very patient with all my questions.!”
“Our dogs have been clients for the past 9 years and we have to say that Dr. B and Wendy are amazing. They were caring and supportive to us while we said farewell to one of our dogs and they even sent us flowers. Our other dog still loves going to see them!”
