Rules & Regulations
Vaccines
- Guests must be over 3 months of age. Puppies must have received at least 3 DHPP vaccinations, 2 Intranasal Bordetella vaccines, and all dogs over 3 months of age must have had a Rabies vaccination.
- Adult guests are required to have a Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) given in accordance with the law. Your dog must have a history of receiving Bordetella vaccines, the last one must have been given within the last 6 months. If your dog hasn't had a Bordetella vaccine in the last 6 months, they must receive it no later than 10 days before entering into boarding.
- If your dog has never received a Bordetella vaccine, they must receive a series of two (2) vaccines 3 weeks apart in order to stay or play. The last vaccine must be given a minimum of 10 days prior to entry into boarding or daycare.
- Feline boarders are required to have a current FVRCP and Rabies.
- Kittens must be over 3 months of age and have received at least 3 FVRCP vaccines. All cats over 4 months old must have a Rabies vaccine.
- Vaccines must be administered by a licensed veterinarian, and vaccination histories from the veterinarian must be reviewed by our clinic BEFORE check in.
- We are a veterinary clinic as well, so we will be more than happy to administer any vaccinations your pet needs for boarding.
Other requirements
- All dogs and cats are checked for fleas by a staff member at the time of check-in. If fleas are found, flea control will be administered at the owner’s expense.
- Dogs and cats must be free of all communicable diseases for 30 days prior to boarding, and must be on heartworm prevention.
- All dogs over 6 months old are required to be spayed or neutered because of contact with other dogs during doggy daycare playtimes. If your pet is not spayed or neutered, they possibly may not receive playtime.
- For boarding during holidays and other peak times, we recommend making a reservation at least 30 days in advance. Boarding reservations during peak times and holidays require a 1 night non-refundable deposit. The deposit is due at the time the reservation is made, and the amount does go towards your pet's stay at check-in. If you cancel or change the dates of your stay, the deposit is forfeit. We cannot hold reservations without a deposit so please plan accordingly. The peak weeks we require deposits are, but aren't limited to: New Year's Eve/Day, Easter, Spring Break, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Aggie Graduations, Hurricaine Evacuations, Thanksgiving Eve/Day, Christmas Eve/Day.
Temperament
- All dogs will be temperament evaluated by a staff member at check-in. We reserve the right to refuse service and/or daycare to any dog based on these findings for the safety and well-being of our other guests and staff members.
- For the safety of our daycare guests, if any pet becomes too rough during play towards another dog, he or she may be placed in a short “time-out” to cool off. If this is the case, your pet will soon be reintroduced into the playroom after “time-out”, where his or her behavior will be reevaluated.
- For the safety of our daycare guests and our staff, Lovan Care reserves the right for expulsion from our doggy daycare program. Possible reasons for expulsion can include, but are not limited to:
-Aggressive behavior towards other dogs or our staff
-Biting other dogs or our staff
-Excessive mounting
-Too fearful or too stressed
-Illness
